Public Notice: Correction to Water Rate Update

The Town Board would like to clarify the recent information regarding upcoming water rate changes. The Town was informed by the City of Linton that the rate they charge the Town would be increasing by 57%. This led to the initial assumption that customer water rates would need to rise by the same percentage.

After further review and direct communication with Linton, the Board confirmed that the 57% increase applies only to the Town’s wholesale cost, not to customer rates.

The correct adjustment for customers is an increase of $1.43 per 1,000 gallons, which amounts to approximately a 13% increase.

This situation resulted from a misunderstanding between Linton and the Town, and we appreciate the community’s patience while the matter was clarified.

The Town Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, November 25th to formally correct the water rates to reflect the accurate amount.
